“I got back a reply from his administrative assistant, telling me that five copies of Macintosh operating system were in the mail. But when they arrived, the five copies turned out to be family packs, which means he donated a total of 25 copies of the expensive software. That gift was several times what I originally asked for. The generous donation allowed me to expand the program.”

In addition to updating the old Apple computers, Ray has found cheap dial-up Internet accounts and provided rudimentary training for the “lost youth” recipients. He usually tries to throw in a free printer and some auxiliary speakers, because some of his private clients at Mac Ace don’t want the extra peripherals that come with a new computer system.
